So, you think you have found someone you love to the ends of the earth and to make it even better, she just so happens to share your passion for kiting. What could be better than that and what could you possibly have to complain about?

Is life going to Instagram perfect or will there be some rough sailing with the smooth waters. We think that if you can associate with and raise a smile to at least 3 or more of these points then you are definitely ready to date a girl that kites.

1. What's yours is mine, including your kite gear.

Every couple who kites might think that they will save a bit of money and have a larger quiver by sharing kites… but the truth is that you will feel envy, jealousy, anger, sadness and a mix of other emotions as your ‘considerably lighter than you’ other half rides away on your biggest kite because there was chance she would have fun on a 12m in 14 knots.

2. You can teach her to kite and help her progress.

This is kiter relationships 101 and can be seen on pretty much any kite beach. You thought it would be great to teach and help each other out, but it quickly descends to

“stop screaming at me!”

“I’m not screaming I’m talking loudly because it’s windy!”

3. It will be so great when you're parents because you will be able to share sessions with the whole family

If you are dating her now there is a chance you might well end up becoming parents, which is of course magical and you will be able to share sessions with the whole family.

Only that might often mean you are left standing on the beach holding the baby while your other half is off having fun.

4. Blissful traveling together.

How did you manage to fit everything into one board-bag when you were single, but now 3 board-bags is still not enough to give you space for you personal effects.

Might have something to do with the 4 summer wetsuits and 30 bikinis ….either way, just be happy your other half will be the best dressed on the beach. …and pay the excess baggage.

5. Who is shooting who.

Please can you film me? Please can you drop everything to edit those pictures you’ve took 2 minutes ago as I just have to get them online now.

You will need to find a good balance between being the one in front of the camera and the one behind. Most importantly though, you will nee to make her look good.

6. There will be sacrifices.

Travelling the world kiting does not always come cheap, especially when you take into account the precious value of those holiday days from work.

So there will be compromises and expenses, …but at least your doing it together.

7. You may have your patience tested while she gets ready

She may not get into her wetsuit as quick as you,  pump as quick as you and may spend time making sure her hair is properly attached and bikini well adjusted under her wetsuit, …but try and keep calm and don’t walk off and leave her to launch by herself.

The wait is worth it as you walk to the water together.

8. Is your session 100% for you.

This goes both ways actually depending on who is the better kiter or the one learning a new trick. Either way, ready to NOT lose yourself completely in your session and always keep an eye out so make sure you saw the jump, the crash, and if needed are on hand for the rescue.

9. At least you get to spend the evening talking about your session.

Well, you would only she fell asleep on the couch after talking for hours about her latest trick,  strangely enough the moment you began to explain how kite shape effects line slack and this is the reason you are not as good as you could be with a different kite.

10. You finally have a weekend roadtrip partner

As long as you are ready for her service station toilet breaks and possible issues arising from points mentioned in 4. & 7. you have found yourself an always willing road trip partner and friend as you drive for hours in search of that perfect session.

11. Time to start paying attention to the other kiting couples.

You can pretend not to be, but we know you are, and if not, your other half certainly is.

Are they arguing more than you (sorry, talking loudly because of the wind)?, better dressed? sharing kites? who is holding the GoPro?

12. Sunscreen time.

Hold on, you just put sunscreen all over her back which was a bit annoying as you now have greasy hands which is going to come off on your bar, …but hey, you love her, …but what it that, …she refuses to return the favour because she does not want to get her hands greasy.

True story.

13. It's Christmas

You may want that brand new board or pair of Ronix boots, …and the chances are you might just get them which is a huge bonus.

Only, …she wants a brand new board and pair of boots too. Ho ho ho.

14. The world will know your kite crazy.

We tend to talk about kiting a lot when we are just one, but a couple is fuel to each fire, and unless you are parents and you have a fair share of baby anecdotes to add to the mix, prepare to kite-talk everyone around you to death.

15. Pride is a beautiful thing

As you sit there on the beach or ride behind your partner, you will feel an enormous sense of pride of what they are doing, and that they chose to spend these moments of their life with you.

Be ready to get a bit mushy.
