Behind the Scene – Rendez-Vous with Bruna Kajiya & Colleen Carroll

Shortly after I arrived in Bruna’s home country, Brazil, we started to chat about meeting up and while we were at it, shooting a video together. We got in touch with Vincent Bergeron and made a plan to shoot in our go-to spot, Taiba, as well as a handful of to be determined locations along the coast. We not only wanted to create an all time shredit but we wanted to enjoy the ride while we did.

So we loaded up a couple of trucks bringing with us our trusty videographer Vincent Bergeron as well as a small handful of friends and we headed north to see what we could get up to.

We visited Lagoinha, Guajiru, Icarai and a few places in between. Driving via Brazil highway #1 aka the beach, we’d stop if a place looked good or if someone saw an enticing looking river mouth on google maps. The latter often leaving us on a precarious mission loading our vehicles onto non-motorized ferries, skirting monstrous sand dunes, forging rivers and finding ‘lagoons’ that had dried up only days before.

In the making of our video Rendez-Vous, we left the safety and familiarity of our beloved little Taiba Lagoon behind and maybe that made the shooting of our video slightly more challenging than it had to be but I can for sure tell you that it also made it more memorable.

We had a true adventure going on behind the scenes, but in front of the camera it was still pure action. Bruna had just landed the first female Blind Judge 5 and her riding was on fire. Infected by her motivation and style, our time on the water was well spent.
