Venezuela is a beautiful country absolutely full of kitesurfing spots. My home spot, Playa el Yaque (on the island of Margarita), is an internationally known spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. This is also the home spot of two windsurfing champions : Gollito Estredo (6 times freestyle world champions) and Ricardo Campello (3 times World Champion windsurf).
However, the country is full of many other beautiful kitesurfing spots and that’s are the 10 good reasons why you should come and check them out!
1. Little pieces of paradise
Playa El Yaque: Margarita Island, La Restinga: wave spot on Margarita Island, Adicora: Falcon state, Archipelago of Los Roques ” the” postcard spot not to be missed, la Tortuga the water is so blue that it looks fake: there are spots for every taste, however I prefer to let you dream with the photos that speak for me!

2. It is a windy place
We are lucky to have wind most of the year (the best months are from November to June), which is priceless when you go on holiday for kiting. You will not have to wait for the wind all day long !

3. Kitesurf Schools in every spot
You want to learn kitesurfing? Not yet independent? You don’t want to carry your own gear?
There are kitesurfing schools in every spot with the latest equipment and offering lessons, rental, supervision and tours to secret spots. What more could you ask for than kiting in 28 degrees turquoise water?
4. No crowded spots
We all agree , it is never nice to kite in crowded spots. Sometimes I have the sea just for me, it’s so good ! I’ve heard some people say that El Yaque is too crowded … but some month ago, the beach has been completely reorganised to allow everybody to enjoy this magical place under the best possible conditions. Also El Yaque is a place full of incredible secret spots, you just have to ask the Gringa and I’ll take you there.
5. The perfect carribean mix
Venezuela is the perfect mix between great Caribbean and sportsman like atmosphere. Even if you travel alone, you will not stay alone for long, believe me. The Venezuelan kite community is a big family and we are always happy to meet new kiters from abroad. Venezuela is also a country full of very talented riders (windsurfing and kitesurfing).
There is nothing better than to sit at the beach and enjoy the show that these champions can offer.
6. Changing spots is easy
Even if the spots are in very different parts of Venezuela, it will not take you long to get from one spot to another one. Here is a nice little itinerary for you:
Arrive in Caracas, you can fly (30 min) to get to Margarita Island. Ten minutes later you will find yourself in El Yaque, after a few days you can take a boat ( 20 minutes ) which will take you on the Coche Island. You can then fly back to Caracas and 30 minutes after you’re either in Adicora or Los Roques . You choose! If I were you I will go to all the spots
7. A cheap destination
Certainly the international air tickets are not a present, but this is normal because Venezuela is on the other side of the Atlantic. However, if you do it in advance, you can find air tickets to Caracas for affordable prices.
National tickets are very economical and life on site also, which allows you to go far away for a very reasonable budget.
8. Too much false information
I always hear : “I will not go to Venezuela, it’s too dangerous.” It is true that Venezuela is a country going through hard times and has its sensitive areas as there are everywhere.
However, to go to the kite spots, you often have to pass by Caracas, but you should know that you do not have to leave the airport as there is an internal connection between the international and domestic airport. And Kitesurfing spots are quiet and idyllic locations
9. Fabulous posadas
You have the choice between sleeping in a hotel or in a posada. I suggest you sleep in a posada because they are typical and magical places ! They are usually very close to the spots.
10. The most beautiful sunsets ever
I have rarely seen such beautiful sunsets in my life, it is not beautiful?
