After 5 days of intense competition to determinate which riders who will be fighting against each other in finals here for the MaiTai Invitational Cabarete, it’s time for the ladies and men to give everything to fight for a place on the podium.
The finals started at 3pm with the ladies first. After a huge Back to blind pulled out by Bruna Kajiya which gave her a amazing 8.4, the Brazilian rider took advantage and didn’t let the first place escape from her. Following by Paula Novotna, close behind who replied with a sick s-mobe which unfortunately was not enough to catch up Bruna but enough to gave her a comfortable second place.
Hannah took the third place with a nice ride and a nice back mobe, following by Estefania Rosa who instantly run into Bruna’s arms as she knew Bruna just won.
It is always such a great pleasure to see how girls can be competitive and supporting each other at the same time.
Regarding the men we’ve got the local rider from Cabarete Luis Alberto Cruz who took the first place and who gave to the crowd an amazing show especially with his amazing first move, a huge Blind judge 7.
Carlos Mario finished second following by Liam Whaley in 3rd, Adeuri Corniel in 4th, Alex Pastor in 5th and Alex Neto in 6th position.
In brief, we can all say that the first World Kiteboarding League event was a real success with a very good organisation and a lot of support from the different sponsors. The MaiTai Invitational Cabarete offered a new beginning for the freestyle tour and we are pleased to know that the riders will continue to fight to have their own tour and to help our sport to continue to grow even more.
We are all proud of the girls who went big in hard conditions and we will always support them. We would have love to be there to support them even more but we will continue to follow them as much a we can.
