Blue Palawan Open has just finished in the Philippines and it was an amazing event with a great lineup of top international riders. There was a good mix of female riders from both Triple S and the World Tour.
Most of the female Triple S riders were here, including Colleen Carroll, Sensi Graves, Victoria Soloveykina, Manuela Jungo and event organizer herself Paula Rosales. It was also a surprisingly good show-up from the World Tour scene with girls such as the 2 times world champion Karolina Winkowska, Therese Taabbel and Kasia Lange. Other newcomers to slider competitions were Julia Castro, Natalia Grabowska and myself. No doubt it was going to be a decent competition between the girls!
The event started out quite windy, however in the middle of the week there were a few windless days. There was no need to worry about restless riders in this tropical paradise though, as there are lots of fun things to explore around in the area. The crew went to deserted islands, zip lining in the forest, while also enjoying the surroundings at the beautiful resort, Blue Palawan.
Days were going by easily, however we were all excited to get going with the competition. In the end, it turned out we had to wait until the very last day to finish the whole competition. Luckily it was a great day with good wind all day. We managed to finish both the finals of sliders and kickers.
The competition was fierce between the girls and the performance of the girls was somewhat different compared to the qualifier. In the end, the most experienced in the game ended up on the podium. Karolina Winkowska was on fire during the finals and ended up taking home the title in both Kicker and Sliders. 2nd place in both disciplines went to Sensi Graves and 3rd Place to Colleen Carroll. Well deserved podium places! Now we are all eager to up our game for the next comp ;)
